LOTTA SHOW, LITTLE SHINE

(Trev Deeley Motorcycles `Show and Shine' Sat. June 16 2001)

Story and Photos by

LEE A. WOOD

Trev Deeley Motorcycles' fifth annual `Show and Shine' got off to a cloudy start but the short shower late in the morning failed to daunt the attendees. By mid afternoon the clouds had scattered and the participants enjoyed a relatively pleasant day.

Volunteers from the `XL riders', Barb and Chuck, checked in the competitors who started arriving as early as 8:00 AM.

This FLH took first in `4 speed' and `Peoples Choice'.

Entrants were competing for several categories; Dyna, FXR, Rubbermount, Sport, Sportster, Tourer, and Vintage. There were many entries in the `Full Custom' category and over twenty entries in the `Softail' category.

Motorcycle judging wasn't the only competition held at the `Show and Shine'. Door Prizes were held throughout the day as were 50/50 and T-shirt raffles.

T shirts in the T-shirt draw were a Harley T-shirt from Switzerland and another from Venezuela. These shirts had been collect by Gerry Rooyakkers, VHOG's (Vancouver Harley Owner's Group) Safety Officer.

VHOG was on hand with two displays, their second year at the Trev Deeley Show and Shine, to raise funds for the B. C. Fire Professional Fighters Burn Fund Summer Camp for burn children.

The camp, held near Squamish, B. C, will host 62 children and 35 councilors this summer. Last year VHOG supplied water cannons, `supper soakers', for each of the children. This year they are going to buy them hats.

Also this year, like last year, VHOG will arrive at the camp on opening day and give the children rides on their bikes.

As well as the 50/50 draws and the T-shirt raffles VHOG also had a hot dog stand. Trev Deeley supplied space at their show and other companies donated monies. The Delta Chapter of HOG donated $250

Despite the cloudy start, the day turned out to be a great success. VHOG raised over one thousand dollars for the Burn Fund and Trev Deeley Motorcycles had many happy competitors walking away with lots of awards.
