LAFARGE LAKE

AN AVERAGE SIZE RAINBOW TROUT (ABOUT 26 CM / 10 IN.) FROM LAFARGE LAKE

When I first came to Vancouver, about 1990, Pinetree Way, as we know it now, became a narrow rd. North of the Coquitlam Centre shopping area.

Lafarge Slough was to the East and there was a small drop off from the road that led to a low area at water’s edge.

We shot a scene for an episode of MacGyver, at this spot.

Scuba divers, and a tow truck, were recovering a car from the water.

I, dressed as a police officer, had to drive a police car into the scene. The car was cold and would barely run let alone speed into the scene.

I ended up on the cutting room floor.

As usual.

Originally the lake was a rock quarry mined by J. A. Dewar & Co.

Today, 2011, Pinetree Way is a; straight, wide, busy, thoroughfare. And the slough is now a man made lake.

Lafarge Lake is named after LaFarge Canada Co. and is a part of Town Centre Park

These pictures were taken on a; chilly, cloudy, day in mid April.

My family had gone fishing and I joined them later, to take pictures.

As I got there they were packing up because no one had caught anything.

NO FISH TODAY

Near the first of May Army and Navy had a sale on in their sporting goods section.

I bought Serena a new rod and reel, (Spin Casting)

On May 13 Serena and Jason went to LaFarge Lake.

Within five minutes Serena caught, with her new rod and reel, a small trout. (See picture top of page.)

Five minutes later she caught a second, BIGGER, trout.
