In the Province of Saskatchewan, Canada.

The original Yellowhead Highway went from Jasper, through the Rocky Mountains, on an old railroad grade, to the town of Tête Jaune Cache. (French for yellow head)
Over the years various groups have used the Yellowhead to promote tourism to their area. Consequently the Western end (or start) of the YH is now the city of Masset on the Queen Charlotte Islands.
They have also designated highway 5 (From Tête Jaune to Hope - in B. C.) as the Southern Yellowhead Highway.
Rumour has it that they are now trying to move the Southern terminus to Abbottsford, B. C. so they can include part of the TCH (Trans Canada Highway) in their tourist promotions.
Officially the Yellowhead Highway follows the TCH through the city of Portage la Prairie and ends (or starts) in downtown Winnipeg. (Corner of Portage and Main.)
Charles Neiymer and Frank Silverthorne, sponsored by `Lines Motors' of Edmonton, began the first automobile journey (in an Overland Four) through the Yellowhead Pass on June 17, 1922

At this time there was a section of Hwy. 16 that was still only two lanes.

I imagine, by now, there is no two lane highway left between Alberta and Saskatoon.
