![]() A STORY ABOUT THIS INTERSECTION | ![]() |
Going West through Rosetown one day I had a car, SUV, pulling a small RV trailer come up from the South and turn West at the intersection in front of me.
It was a three vehicle combination, that I had never seen before as they are illegal in B. C.
A car pulling a tow trailer, pulling a tow trailer.
The third vehicle was a boat on a trailer connected to a ball hitch on the back of the RV trailer.
As we were leaving town and we were increasing speed I noticed the boat start to dance from side to side.
When I realized what was happening I began to flash my lights and lay on my air horn.
One of the unfortunate things about modern vehicles is you can’t turn your headlights off.
Going back and forth between low and high beam is not as noticeable as turning your lights on and off.
Whether the driver of the vehicle noticed; my lights, or my horn, or realized for himself what was happening, I don’t know but the vehicle did slow down and, safely, pull over to the side of the road.
What had happened was the trailer ball had broken away from the rear of the trailer and the boat trailer was swinging back and forth on the safety chains.
Luckily; the driver had attached his safety chains, the vehicle hadn’t reached full speed yet, and no one was hurt.
